bruce goldsmith set to join advance

Airwave’s paraglider designer of nearly ten years and 2007 World Champion, Bruce Goldsmith, is set to leave the company when his contract expires in Spring 2010, and to join Thomas Ripplinger on Advances design team.

The last ten years have been very successful for Airwave but according to the company, both they and Bruce mutually agree that it is ’simply time for a change’.

Airwave say that over the last few years Bruce has trained a young and motivated design team which has been heavily involved in the design and testing of the current Airwave gliders. They have also been joined by Mario Eder, who was a long-time professional test pilot for major brands and is the former technical director and chief test pilot at the European Para Academy (official test laboratory for EN / LTF certifications in Germany). This team will be responsible for new developments at Airwave.

Advance say, “We are confident that, in Bruce Goldsmith, we have found a perfect addition to our development team. Bruce has over 20 years’ experience of developing paragliders and, among other things, designed his own personal world championship-winning wing.”

Bruce writes Icaristics, a regular column on how to fly better, in Cross Country magazine.
